Multimedia Record of Achievement

Outline of the activity
The children were using a DTP package such as Primary Writer to create a portfolio of their writing. The records were set up as linked multimedia pages including imported sound files, images from digital cameras and scanners. It would then, hopefully, be taken away by the children at the end of the year or passed on to their chosen secondary school for further development.

Skills Covered
The children learnt how to create linked multimedia pages incorporating text, sound, clipart and images from a digital camera or scanner. The children used a multimedia program to organise, refine and present their writing in different forms for a specific audience. They write in response to a wide range of stimuli and use different styles of writing.

Rationale
The activity develops the pupils ICT skills and allows them to develop a range of writing skills in an interesting and worthwhile context. The use of ICT not only enhances the presentation of the final product but helps to provide a purpose and audience for their writing.

Result
The children developed interesting, useful collections of their writing. They were encouraged to share their work with others and evaluate it with the intention of improving future work.
