How was it used?
This resource is generic enough in its content to be used with all age groups. The tutor can adapt their delivery according to their age of learner.
Using this resource to gather evidence for the Communication element of Essential Skills Wales can be very effective.
It is ideal for stimulating group discussion and group working. Introducing the topic in the first part of the lesson and questioning the learners to establish their use of social networking on the internet whilst asking if they are already aware of what information they should and should not be sharing publicly.
The resource is then introduced as a class activity shown on the IWB (if one is available).
The final part of the lesson is an opportunity to hold a group discussion where the learners will discuss in smaller groups how they feel about the issues raised during the showing of the resource. There is also an opportunity to gather evidence for ESW ICT if they compose a poster that will warn others of what they should and should not share publicly.
Impact and Outcomes
An ideal opportunity to investigate any possible cyber bullying during the discussion. The learners may open up about their own experiences. Very good for encouraging the less enthusiastic learners to participate in a discussion. The evidence for the group discussion for ESW has to show that they have contributed to the discussion. As this is a popular topic these learners are more likely to actively participate.

Lesson Learnt
There is no reason why this approach could not be used as a more personalised opportunity. The learner can have access to the resource through the VLE (Moodle for example) and be asked to write their own thoughts, this could cover the ‘written document’ element of the ESW
