Where do you live?

Outline of the activity
The children were creating a database about the area of Brynnau.  It contained questions relating to the type of house, the number of people living there and how they travelled to school.

Skills Covered
The children had to collect their data and input it into the computer. They had to think of ‘field’ titles and think carefully of a logical way to input and interrogate the information.

Rationale
By using a subject which the children know a lot about (i.e. their homes, families and area they live in), the children could categorise the information a lot much more easily.  They were confident in using the database as they understood the implications of the questions they were asking.
