The carp
Outline of the activity
The children had been studying Japan as part of national Children’s day. They had discovered that the carp was a symbol of endurance and resilience and so decided to do some art work on the PC for display purposes whilst practising mouse skills and paint skills.
Skills Covered
The children used various paint facilities to complete the fish. They used the spray gun, paint brushes and fill function to achieve their desired effect.
Rationale
This activity can be adapted to suit any topic being covered. The children will enjoy using the paint program and will be rewarded by printing their end product. It is also an excellent way of developing mouse control.
Result
The teacher displayed the pupils' work in the classroom under the heading - Maths work / symmetry.
